Navigation modes

In this article, you will find out about the different navigation modes ans how each of them exactly works.

In the Viewer you will find 4 navigation mode, click the compass to display the options.

By default you will be set in Orbit control mode, this mode allows you to move using your mouse only, you can :
- Zoom in / zoom out using your scroll wheel

- Zoom in by holding your scroll wheel pressed

- Rotate your camera around it's target point by holding your mouse's left click pressed (target point: the point where your camera is looking at)

- Move your camera vertically and laterally by holding your mouse's right click pressed, the vertical / lateral axes are not defined by the point cloud but according to the camera's pitch

 

The second mode you will find is the Earth control, this mode has some similarities with the previous one, here you can :
- Zoom in / zoom out using your scroll wheel

- Zoom in by holding your scroll wheel pressed

- Rotate your camera by holding your mouse's right click pressed, when clicking you will see a dot appear, this dot symbolises the rotation's center

- Move your camera on the 2 horizontal axes by holding your mouse's left click pressed, no going up and down this time

 

The third mode you will find is the Fly control, this mode is completly different, here you can :
- Rotate your camera around it's position by holding your mouse's left click pressed

- Move your camera vertically and laterally by holding your mouse's right click pressed, the vertical / lateral axes are not defined by the point cloud but according to the camera's pitch

- Move your camera going forward following the camera's pitch by holding the up arrow key

- Move your camera going backward following the camera's pitch by holding the down arrow key

- Move your camera going left following the camera's pitch by holding the left arrow key

- Move your camera going right following the camera's pitch by holding the right arrow key

- Use your scroll wheel to change the camera's speed

 

The third mode you will find is the Helicopter control, this mode is similar to the previous one, here you can :
- Rotate your camera around it's position by holding your mouse's left click pressed

- Move your camera vertically and laterally by holding your mouse's right click pressed, the vertical / lateral axes are not defined by the point cloud but according to the camera's pitch

- Move your camera going forward following the horizontal axis by holding the up arrow key

- Move your camera going backward following the horizontal axis by holding the down arrow key

- Move your camera going left following the horizontal axis by holding the left arrow key

- Move your camera going right following the horizontal axis by holding the right arrow key

- Use your scroll wheel to change the camera's speed

 

In every mode you can double click anywhere on the point cloud to move your camera where you clicked.
